Who Benefits?

If you’re interested in the nuts and bolts of how to live off grid in a civilized way, this is the site for you.

If you’re serious about learning what to buy, how to make things work, and some of the unexpected challenges that could come along, this is the site for you.

There are a thousand reasons people choose to live off grid and those reasons are inherently personal. If you’re smart enough to have done your research and are determined to do it, this is the site for you.

What Does Off Grid Mean?

Off grid, in our case, is not simply a “homestead”. Off grid means we’re producing our own power from solar and wind power and we have a private well and septic system. We grow as much of our own food as possible in our greenhouses and garden and we also have chickens. Ours is not a huge operation, but it works for the two of us.

Who Are We?

I’m Greta, an artist and technical writer with a passion for baking and gardening. John, my husband, trained as a millwright and worked as a Maintenance Superintendent for over 20 years. We’re both adventurous, handy and enjoy problem solving.

Living off grid, for us, means enjoying a rich quality of life that includes fresh food, clean air, going to bed happily tired and, hopefully, a little wiser after having learned something that day.

Thanks for visiting us and we hope the information we offer is of some help to you.
